This program is aimed at making solar, geothermal and large scale energy efficiency a more affordable option. We do not have any serious incentives here in Oklahoma as of yet. So, we have to come up with some other ways.
Attention! This is not a simply borrowing against your home equity. If you simply borrow money from your equity, you would pay interest, a lot of interest over time. Those savings will be incorporated into program and allow you to pay off your mortgage faster.
We always start with an Energy Audit, which is included in all packages. Energy Audit evaluates your energy profile and suggests ways to improve energy efficiency. You can carry out an Energy Audit separate from the program to decide what applications makes better sense.
Energy Efficiency Packages include Energy Audit, Weatherization, Improvements or change of some of windows and doors (if necessary), solar heat control radiant barrier application, solatube lighting (if applicable), window film, may include instant water heater. Energy Audit will help determine which applications are better. We always work our way up from low to no cost applications, to more expensive and comprehensive systems.
Real costs of Geothermal systems are at $15,000 or more. Real costs of solar PV systems are at $20,000 and more. To make a sensitive dent on your bills, energy efficiency improvements may also $5,000-$10,000 after you get insulation, hot water, HVAC and windows updated.
