We would like to encourage everybody to take this hour and use it to spend some quality time with your family and friends. In our everyday rush of things, we have less and less time to think, to reflect and enjoy simple quiet time with those dear to us. Some ideas on how to spend the hOUR:
- Have that conversation you have been postponing!
- Turn your TV, computer and games off. Leave one light on, and read your favorite book with the whole family
- Take a stroll, alone or with your loved ones. In either case, you will have a whole hour to reflect on things, or have a good conversation
- Have your own "unplugged" concert!
Mayor of City of Norman Cindy Rosenthal proclaimed March 30th, 2008 an hOUR Norman Day. On that day, Norman has joined such cities as Melbourne, Sidney, Shanghai, Tokyo, Moscow, London, Paris, Chicago, and San Francisco, which participated in Earth Day the day before. City of Norman was entered in the register of participating cities.
Mayor Rosenthal also voiced a commitment to have hOUR Norman event bi-annually, and make every effort to transform local initiative into hOUR Oklahoma event to cover the whole Sooner State.
